ABOUT US

PEOPLE OF GOD

Our world finds itself standing at an intersection of both challenges and opportunities.  We are asking the question, how do we move forward into the future of all that God wants for us.  When we moved to our current location in 1995, Johnson found itself located at the intersection of Route 21 and 585, right on the corner, squarely located within the intersection and fabric of Northeast Ohio.  We find ourselves positioned to meet these challenges, and experience the opportunities, with God's power, grace, and love.  With every moment, breath, ministry, and movement, we seek to be the people of God, the body of Christ, the heart, the hands and feet of Jesus to each other, our surrounding communities and friends, and the world.  So what are we about?  We are about loving Jesus, loving others, and making followers and disciples of the one who calls us by name, gives us light for our journeys, faith to face the challenges, and hope to see the future that only God can give...Jesus.

OUR VISION

We will encourage all persons to

Believe: To begin (and to live in) a relationship with Jesus Christ to

Belong: To join with other disciples in an ongoing journey of faith

Share: To demonstrate a life of faith through serving others.

OUR MISSION

We exist to make & mature disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation

of the world.

OUR PURPOSE

We are a body of believers dedicated to doing the work of Christ for the purpose of  edifying the believer and non-believer. We strive to reach our surrounding community in meaningful ways and ultimately to reach those beyond the confines of Ohio and the USA to those throughout the world.

Julie Watson
Youth Pastor

Originally from NEO, I have lived all over the contiguous 48, but I always come home. I have a B.A. in Environmental Conservation. I've had a unique career as a zoo keeper, naturalist (environmental educator), a high school coach, marketing director, and more. I enjoy working with people, especially youth. Besides nature, my passions lie in the arts. As a single mom, it took me a long time, but several years ago, I fulfilled a lifelong dream of publishing my first book. I write inspirational, historical fiction. I also paint signs and make outdoor decor. I began attending JUMC in 2022 after having moved into the area. As youth director I do my best to create a safe, judgement-free place where area 6-12th graders can come and have fellowship with their peers. We eat, talk, play games, serve, and learn to be better Christians, friends, and people. Come join the fun Wednesday evenings!

Kevin Thompson
Sports Director

I have been going to Johnson my entire life. I credit going to the Johnson youth group as being a formative moment in my life that I cherish greatly. Growing up in the church, I had the opportunity to participate in many of its sporting ventures, including helping build the FLC, coaching the co-ed softball team, and witnessing the installment of our disc golf course. It's my pleasure to be able to serve the church in an official capacity now as the Sports Ministry Director. As a former college athlete I understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle, and I'm excited to share opportunities to pursue just that on our Johnson campus.

Judy Garey
Children's Ministry

Hi!  My name is Miss Judy!  To most, I joined Johnson church in 1998 and found my home. I came on board as Children’s Ministry Director in 2003 and retired in 2018 from both Ministry Director and my full-time job. Four years later I’m back, and my purpose is to serve God and be the hands and feet of Jesus giving children the opportunity to know of God‘s love and have fun learning about it.

Kim Stoffer

Treasurer

We (my husband Dennis and I)  have been members of Johnson UMC for 7 years. I have served on several committees at the church and also enjoy volunteering at the church Blood Drive. I have been Treasurer for the church sine June, 2017. For the past 16 years, I have also been the Administrative Assistant in Fairlawn. When I’m not crunching numbers, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, babysitting my granddaughters and going to the movies.
